Abstract Background Oral mucositis is one of the most emerging and debilitating complications chemotherapy during treatment period, which strongly affects nutritional status physical mental condition these patients. Zinc increased protein synthesis improved cell membrane stability so passible effective in prevent treat oral promote health. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate effect zinc chloride mouthwash on prevention, incidence, severity cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods The present was a randomized control trial study. 96 with diagnosis selected from oncology clinic west Iran. Then they assigned randomly group placebo group. each should rinse their mouths every 8 h two times time 2 min 7.5 ml mouthwash. weight loss examined blindly at baseline 3-week follow-up.
